Listen to 10+ Things to Do at The Grand Mirage Resort & Thalasso Bali

Just a 20-minute car-ride from the Bali International Airport is the beautiful Grand Mirage Resort & Thalasso Bali. This lavish beachfront property is home to tourists unwinding on a Nusa Dua Bali holiday, excellent views and a private beach. From the moment holidaymakers step in, they are welcomed by refreshingly briny breezes, the warm tropical sun and the staff’s ‘Om Swastiastu’ warm greetings.

Then, it’s a hop to the pre-booked room, some refreshment and then deciding upon the things to do and the activities to sample at the Grand Mirage Resort and Thalasso, Bali.

Things to do and Activities at the Grand Mirage Resort

Grand Mirage has plenty of things to do within the resort’s premises. To help save guests from ‘ planning panic’, here’s a tight(-ish) listicle on the activities they can enjoy during their Bali holiday at the hotel.

1.  Three swimming pools: Main Pool, Adults’ only infinity pool & Family Paradise Pool

Located in the resort’s ‘Main Building’, the main swimming pool boasts of a mini waterpark and a Coconut Bar, which keeps swimmers stocked up on coconut cocktails and stubbies. The pool’s shallow end houses the kids’ mini-water park, allowing kids to have their own not-so-mini adventures while adults relax in the pool or on the sun loungers nearby.

From 7 am to 7 pm, the adults-only infinity pool is the place to be. Besides plenty of optimally-placed sun-loungers, guests usually prefer soaking in the panoramic views from the pool’s scooped-out sitting on either end.

The ocean-facing Family Paradise Pool is set next to the resort’s ‘Family Paradise Building’. However, instead of a waterpark, there’s a fun water slide for tweens upwards.

2. Bubble Party, Anyone?

From time to time, the resort organises Bubble parties. Taking place at either the main pool or the family pool, these bubble parties are oodles for fun for kids and parents – plus, there’s optional costumed dress-ups, too!

3. Bicycle tour

The Grand Mirage Resort & Thalasso Bali offers bicycles for hire, perfect for exploring the expansive property and taking in the sights and sounds. Available from 9 am to 5 pm, helmets are included in the hourly rental.

4. Beach volleyball

Square up in a friendly against fellow travellers or play 1v1 – this is a welcome opportunity to kick up sand, get that adrenaline up and running and get tanned gratis. Post-match, unwind with a cold one or engage in the next ‘to do’ on the list — beach picnic.

5. Beach Picnic

An ageless favourite of holidaymakers, a beach picnic is a welcome change from action-packed activities. It’s a great way to relax — think cold-cut sandwiches, freshly-pressed juice and glorious naps. Families can build a sandcastle together and fathers can teach their ankle biters about a time-honoured traditional beach activity — digging a hole.

6. Coral Planting

Probably the most quietly rewarding of the Grand Mirage Resort’s activities, coral planting is one of those ‘things to do that’ guests should not miss out on. The activity runs approximately for two hours and the pricing covers equipment, accessories and incidentals. The planting is led by the resort’s in-house marine biologist who guides every step of the way. First, guests prepare cement bases, then tag their corals before heading to the dive site by boat. Once at the location, guests get to place their corals directly onto the reef and directly contribute to marine conservation.

The coral planting trip operates from 9 am to 1 pm everyday, except Fridays. Advance reservations are mandatory, and there’s some fine-print to go over. But everything considered, holidaymakers would leave the Island of the Gods just a little bit more beautiful than before.

7. Bali Sea Walker

This is a unique take on diving where instead of a scuba suit and tank, guests are allowed to dive in more comfortable clothes and no air tank. Instead, they are equipped with a diving helmet which supplies fresh oxygen from the pontoon floating above the water.

This fun experience allows guests to experience the coral colonies in the depths freely, surrounded by shoals of sergeant major fish and panoramic views. Divers are accompanied at all times by a diving instructor. The sea walk lasts for up to 25 minutes and then, it’s heading back to the shore. Since this is an experience that’s always in high demand with repeat bookings, advance bookings are mandatory.

8. Motorised/ Non-motorisedand water sports

As the name implies, motorised watersports are all about being propelled at high speeds. Jump onto a speed boat, a jet ski or a banana boat pulled by a speedboat. Helmets, life-jackets and other safety gears are a must as is a rush of thrill and adrenaline. Strongly recommended for couples and newlyweds.
In self-powered water activities, there’s a wide range of options, too. Pick your day’s favourite from sailing, rowing catamaran and kayak to windsurfing and stand-up paddle boards. Tank up on a good breakfast, because you’re the horsepower here.

9. Fitness centre, Yoga and Muay Thai classes at Grand Mirage Resort & Thalasso Bali

The Grand Mirage has extensive fitness options, including a full-fledged gym. There’s the Yoga studio that helps guests learn and continue their daily stretching regimen. Intrinsic to the Balinese way of life, yoga’s benefits regarding flexibility, strength and balance are undisputed. For fitness enthusiasts and those who want to push their limits, the resort offers Muay Thai classes led by professional trainers. This is a full-body workout, one that’s designed to exhaust and strengthen. Available for an additional sum, this is as much of a workout as it is a cultural experience.

10. Thalasso Spa

Grand Mirage’s Thalasso Spa claims to be more than an average spa experience. It backs this claim with an ‘Aquamedic Pool’ that has fresh seawater heated to just the right temperature. Plus, there are 16 rooms where French-trained spa therapists soothe every aching muscle. There’s an array of wellness therapies to be found here, from water-station massages to underwater beds with micro-jets and cold-plunge treatments. Our Bali holiday deals for the Grand Mirage Resort can include Thalasso Spa offers, so feel free to connect with our travel specialists.

11. Games lounge

The resort’s game lounge invites children, and adults still kids at heart. Open from 8 am onwards, guests can claim their seat after a hearty breakfast and smash the buttons as they kill their digital nemesis in PS5, VR Oculus II, Nintendo and Ninebot Segway. There’s also non-digital/ old school options like table tennis, billiards, chess and air hockey for those keeping track of their on-screen time and that of their kids. There’s also karaoke, mahjong and a quiet corner with books and magazines.

12. Cooking Demo

The Grand Mirage Bali holds weekly cooking demonstrations, in the Grand Cafe area (check out our property blog for the resort for more details on its restaurants), the demo are helmed by the chef’s team. On display are a wide variety of cuisines — some local, some regional, some fusion and others, entirely International. Sample delectable bites on this food journey that hits all the right spots.
